From the center of the proud borough comes a group of soulful street corner singers and storytellers. With a mix of pop and soul, the band sets their stage and tells a wondrous sidewalk fairy tale about a young girl named Ainnie. Ainnie is searching for fame and the father she never knew. Also is there the perfectly behaved dog that steals every scene in which it appears.
Annie is just eleven-years-old girl living in an orphanage, presided over by Miss Hannigan. Miss Hannigan is shown as an impossible character who keeps the little girls orphan in line by mistreating and threatening them. Despite bearing Hanningan's bullying as their fate, the girls are still hopeful to have their parents and happiness back in their lives.
Once day Ainnie manages to escape from orphanage to find her parents. She runs into a friendly as well as perfectly behaved dog, Sandy, which steals every scene in which it appears. The people she left behind in orphanage are made homeless. However, she comes back to the orphanage. Meanwhile a character of Grace Farrell who happens to be Warbucks' assistant appears. Farrell picks Ainnie to live in Oliver Warbucks' palatial home for the Christmas holidays.
Although initially scratchy and uncomfortable with each other, Ainnie and Daddy Warbucks soon come close to each other. Warbucks wishes to adopt her, but Ainnie insists that her parents come for her and she has to wait for them. With the help of President and Mrs. Roosevelt, Warbucks offers a reward for the paremnts over the radio show of Bert Healy. Miss Hannigan and her brother, Rooster, and his slightly ditzy girlfriend, Lily St. Regis, come up forward. They pretend to be Ainnie's parents and collect the reward.
However, later when they are found out, it is revealed that Annie's parents have passed away. Warbucks and Annie accept each other and become a family. The buzz this year for the Barn's ‘Ainnie' revolves around one thing: the return of Joe Aiello as Oliver ‘Daddy' Warbucks. His happy homecoming is upstaged by other elements of this cheerful musical, which is certainly one of the best in the theater's recent history.
As of cast of Ainnie, Kayleen Moyers is playing a character of Ainnie. She is outstanding in both her scenes with the other orphans and orphanage headmistress Miss Hannigan and with the Warbucks. Iris Lieberman is appeared as Miss Hannigan in the musical whereas Aiello plays a character of Warbucks. He shows his utmost professionalism in every nuance, every second of his time on stage. Aiello's facial expressions are priceless and he works the comedy of the role with his whole body.
