Due to favorable tie-breakers, Chicago would have been seeded second, while Cleveland would have been seeded no higher than fifth. On April 18, Cleveland won and Chicago lost their final regular season games.
The criticism raised in 2006 was successfully addressed by the new system, as top-seeded Detroit ultimately faced and was defeated by second seeded Cleveland in the Conference Finals.
