Affiliation with Colorado Avalanche
The Chiefs announced on August 17, 2007, that they entered into an affiliation agreement with the NHLs Colorado Avalanche. During the upcoming 2007-08 season, the Chiefs will serve as the Avalanches secondary minor league affiliate. The expansion Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL will be Colorados primary affiliate.

The Chiefs along with, now known as the Wheeling Nailers, the Wheeling Thunderbirds played the role of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1995 film Sudden Death starring Jean Claude Van Damme.
