Apart from holding Minor League Baseball games, Fort Wayne was also host to a Major League Baseball game on May 4, 1871, between Fort Wayne Kekiongas and the Cleveland Forest Citys. It was in 1949, when Fred Zollner announced, from his Kitchen table, that the BAA and NBL will go into merger. In addition to that, Fort Wayne was the third city ever to hold the NBA All-Star Game in 1953. Fort Wayne also hosted Mid-Continent Men's Basketball tournaments in the years 2000, 2001 and 2002 and in addition to that Alley County War Memorial Coliseum, located in Fort Wayne, also happened to be the site of NCAA Men's Division I Volleyball Championship matches in 2000. Spiece Fieldhouse, also located in Fort Wayne, also happens to be the venue for U.S.S.S.A National Boys State Championships every year.
