Toby Keith
Born on July 8 1961 in Clinton Oklahoma, Toby Keith is an American Country Singer as well as the song writer. While Keith was still young he along with his family moved from Clinton to Moore, Oklahoma. Keith's interest in music was developed as he watched different musicians perform at Supper Club that was owned by his grandmother. Due to his ever increasing interest in music Keith got his hands on his first guitar that he got when he was just 8 years of age.
Toby Keith took his high school education from Moore High School, where apart from studies he also took part in Football team of the school; he later graduated from the Moore High School. In 1979, Keith went on to work as a Derrick Hand in the Booming Oil Fields of Oklahoma, where soon he was promoted to the project manager after putting in huge amount of hard work. As Keith continued to work in the oil field, he also formed The Easy Money band when he was 20 and he along with his band started playing in local bars and clubs. Coping with both the jobs, at certain times Keith had to leave in the middle of the gig if he got a call from the oil field.
Later in 1993, Keith along with his band went to Nashville Tennessee to pursue his music career, so he hung out on a Music row at a place that was known as the Houndogs. While he was in Nashville he tried calling several record companies and even sent his demo tapes to many of them but it all ended up futile. All drenched in despair Keith decided to head back to his home land. During that time, Keith promised himself that by the time he is 30, if he doesn't signed a contract with a record company he would leave the music career. He passed the age of 30, with out even getting a record deal.
At last luck knocked the door of Keith's music career as a flight attendant and also one of his fans, gave out Keith's demo tape to the executive of the Mercury Records, Harold Shedd, while he was traveling on the same flight at which that flight attendant was working on that day. Shedd was really impressed with what she heard, and went to his home town to see him perform live and ultimately signed Keith for his first official record deal with Mercury Records.
Keith released his debut single titled "Should've been a Cowboy" that he released in 1993, came out to be a super hit. The single fetch him a #1 spot on the Billboard Country Singles Chart. Keith released his self titled debut album also in 1993 that went on to be certified Platinum. His debut album also contained his hit singles like "A little less talk and A lot more action" and "Wish I didn't Know". As of today, Keith has released a total of 11 studio albums, with the recent one released in 2007, titled Big Dog Daddy.
Keith launched his own record label called Show Dog Nashville on August 31, 2005 after parting ways with Universal Music Group which had since bought DreamWorks. Its first release was Keith's album White Trash With Money, followed by the soundtrack to Broken Bridges.
Keith filmed Broken Bridges in the Autumn of 2005. Cherie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld were the writers and Steven Goldmann was the director of this film. This feature film from Paramount/CMT Films was released on September 8, 2006. Keith plays Bo Price, a country musician whose career has seen better times. Kelly Preston, Burt Reynolds, and Tess Harper are the leading stars in this movie.
