Originating from London, England, The Police is a rock band that became one of the most famous bands during 1980's due to their fusion of Reggae and Jazz genres into their rock music. The band consists of three band members; Stewart Copeland who is vocalist, drummer and percussionist, Sting who is also the vocalist along with being the bass guitarist of the band while Andy Summers in the guitarist and also the vocalist of the band.

The band Police was originally founded by Stewart Copeland, who is the drummer of the band, in early 1977 with an aim of being a part of current Punk Rock music scene that were going on in London after the his progressive band Curved Air was finished. As the band was formed Sting who was the bassist and vocalist along with Henry Padovani who was the guitarist, began their rehearsals along with Copeland in January of the same year. The band recorded their debut album in the February of the same year with the title of "Fall Out"/"Nothing Achieving". After the release of their debut album, they went touring in March and April as the support act for Cherry Vanilla, Wayne County and Electric Chairs.

Sting began working on a jazz-tinged solo project immediately, releasing The Dream of the Blue Turtles in 1985. The album of the polic became an international hit and Sting became the superstar.Copeland and Summers demonstrated no inclination to follow their bandmate's path. Copeland recorded the worldbeat exploration The Rhythmatist in 1985. He also continued to compose scores for film and television. Later, he formed the prog rock band Animal Logic. He continued his art rock and jazz fusion experiments with his solo career.

The Police had been an international fame band. The band was greatly appreciated for their achievements. The ploice were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10, 2003. As a group, they performed "Roxanne", "Message In a Bottle", and "Every Breath You Take" live tour.

The Police was ranked 70 by Rolling Stone Magazine on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2004.
